Ingredients for Cinnamon Filling:
1 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cocoa powder
3/4 cup flour
1/8 tsp chai spice (see recipe below)
Ingredients for Crumb Topping:
6 tbsp melted butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp chai spice
Ingredients for Cake:
1 cup butter (room temperature)
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
3 eggs room temperature
1 tbsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup sour cream
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk room temperature
1/4 of cooled black tea (no milk added)
3 2/3 cup all purpose flour
1 tbsp powdered sugar to dust on top (after baking)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Coat 9 x 13 baking dish with butter
Cinnamon Filling: whisk together ingredients until combined
Crumb topping: mix together with hand until crumbly
Cake: mix butter, sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes)
On low, mix in flour, milk, and black tea (alternating between the three)
Add eggs, vanilla, sour cream, salt, and baking powder until combined and smooth
Spread 1/2 of cake mix, sprinkle cinnamon filling, and the rest of cake mix. Then crumble cake topping on top.
Bake for 40 to 43 minutes, until cake passes toothpick test
Remove cake and let it cool completely in pan. Then dust with powdered sugar and serve
