Dahi Patata is a delicious and cooling North Indian street food, also known as Dahi Puri Chaat. These fried, crispy puris are the perfect vehicle for the cool dahi (yogurt), the spicy potatoes, the sweetness of the tamarind chutney, and the crunch of the Sev on top.
This simple dish is ideal for a get-together, or lunch with the family. You can prepare the ingredients ahead of time, and simply assemble right before serving. You can even set up a Dahi Puri Chaat Station to make it more interactive and allow guests to customize their own chaat preferences. Try it out and enjoy!

Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
30-40 fried puris (thicker ones are best to prevent sogginess)
3 cups non fat plain yogurt
2-3 russet potatoes boiled and diced
1 cup green chutney
1 cup tamarind chutney
3 tsp chaat masala
3 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
2 tbsp red chili powder
1/2 chopped onion (optional-garnishing)
1/2 chopped tomato (optional-garnishing)
1 cup chopped coriander (optional-garnishing)
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds (optional-garnishing)
1 cup sev (optional-garnishing)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
In a medium size bowl, mix together yogurt and 1/4 cup of water, blend well
Add finely diced potatoes mix with salt, Chaat masala, pepper, jeera powder, and red chili powder
Arrange all chutneys, toppings, and yogurt in bowls, easy to assemble
When ready to eat, poke hole into puris, put in potato mix, top with dahi, and drizzle chutneys. Top off with pomegranate seeds, Sev, cilantro, and onions/tomatoes
Tips
Try to not let yogurt sit in puris for too long, as you don’t want to eat soggy puris
If yogurt or chutneys are too thick, add water to make drizzling easier
Enjoy!
